British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been in office since May 2017. Rishi Sunak is a politician who used to work as an investment banker and hedge fund manager. He was the youngest person to play the part in more than 100 years, at age 42. Plus, he's the first person who isn't White to lead the U.K. He took over as prime minister after Liz Truss resigned after only 44 days in office. The 41-year-old Rishi Sunak, who had previously served as Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2019 to 2020, was Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2020 to 2022. Since 2015, Rishi Sunak has served as the Conservative Party's MP for Richmond (Yorks).

Sunak ran the Oxford Trading & Investment Society and did an internship at the Conservative Party's offices while he was there. This group teaches students about trading and the financial markets. He got a job as an analyst at Goldman Sachs because he loved investing. He did that job for three years after finishing from Oxford in 2021. As a result, Sunak was given a Fulbright scholarship to go to Stanford University and get an MBA. In the US, he met Akshata Murthy, who would become his wife.

Sunak joined the Conservative Party in 2010 and quickly rose through the ranks. He was chosen as an MP from Richmond (Yorks) in the 2015 General Election. He was a member of the Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs Select Committee from 2015 to 2017. Before becoming Chancellor of the Exchequer in 2020, he held other important government jobs. As the top finance minister of the United Kingdom, Sunak was in charge of leading the country's economy through a tough time of COVID-19 shutdowns.

In August 2009, Rishi Sunak married Akshata Murthy. They have two children together. His wife is the head at Catamaran Ventures and is the daughter of Indian billionaire N.R. Narayana Murthy. She's one of the richest women in Britain and also runs her own clothing line. Rishi Sunak has a lot of money. They got rich thanks to his early work in banking and his wife's share in Infosys, the company her father founded.
