On October 7, 2023, the Hamas Group launched about 5,000 rockets against major Israeli cities in just 20 minutes, setting off a conflict that has the entire world frightened. Israel bombed the Gaza Strip early Saturday in retaliation for an unexpected attack by the Palestinian militant group Hamas. The Palestinian Militant Group, commanded by Hamas, sparked the Israel–Palestine Conflict of 2023. This conflict between Israel and Palestine is the first major conflict waged entirely within Israeli territory since the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. In order to gain access to Israeli settlements and military installations, the militant group breached the Gaza-Israel Barrier and crossed into Israel through the territory's southern border with Gaza. The opposition launched a vehicle-borne incursion into Israeli territory and a missile fire against the Jewish state. Israeli military installations and civilian neighborhoods were attacked multiple times. Some observers have claimed that this battle marks the beginning of a third Palestinian Intifada. Although Israel has permitted several dozen relief lorries to enter through Egypt's Rafah crossing, it has cut off electricity, most water, and restricted shipments of food and medicine. As a result of Israel's assistance blockade, Gaza is rapidly running out of water, fuel, and supplies, and the conflict is likely to spread as cross-border strikes intensify in neighboring Lebanon and Syria. Every time Hamas has fired missiles at Israel or otherwise provoked the Jewish state, Israel has responded with massive bombings of the Gaza Strip. Hundreds of Israeli soldiers and civilians were killed or injured, and dozens of hostages were taken, after Hamas fighters launched rockets into Israel and invaded Israeli cities and villages across the border from the Gaza strip. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu formed the most conservative Israeli administration in the country's history last December. This government has made no secret of its intention to annex the West Bank, and it has allowed the expansion of illegal Jewish communities there. After the beginning of the attacks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared in a national address that "Israel is at war" because of the situation in Gaza.
