Iran and Israel War

Thirteen people were killed when an airstrike hit an Iranian consulate building in Damascus, the capital of Syria, on April 1. Iran said it was an attack on its security. Brig Gen Mohammad Reza Zahedi was one of the people killed. He was a top commander in the Quds force, which is the overseas branch of Iran's elite Republican Guards (IRGC). He was a very important part of Iran's plan to arm the Shia militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon. Most people think that Israel attacked the consulate because it was part of a pattern of airstrikes against Iranian targets. In the past few months, airstrikes in Syria have killed a number of top IRGC leaders. The IRGC sends weapons and tools to Hezbollah through Syria. This includes high-precision missiles. In addition to trying to stop these shipments, Israel also wants to stop Iran from sending more troops to Syria.
