The International Criminal Court (ICC) was established on July 17, 1998, when the Rome Statute was adopted by the United Nations Diplomatic Conference of Plenipotentiaries on the Establishment of an International Criminal Court. The Rome Statute entered into force on July 1, 2002, after being ratified by 60 countries.
